Jo Cowe -
Chairman
I was born in Somerset where I
went to school, met and married my husband David when we were
both working near Nottingham.
We came to live in Fulbourn when we were allocated a council
house on the Windmill Estate about forty three years ago. We
came with one little girl and soon afterwards we had another
daughter.
We settled here in the village, making friends and enjoying
Fulbourn.
For many years I worked at the Ida Darwin Hospital taking early
retirement when the hospital closed.
I am now the proud Grandmother of six grand daughters.
My hobbies include keep fit, walking, and reading and I also do
voluntary work at Fulbourn library. |
Julie Petrucci - Secretary
I have lived on the Windmill Estate since December 1973 and my
partner Chris and I purchased our house under the Right to Buy
scheme about 18 years ago.
I have been the owner occupier representative on both the SCDC
Project Steering Group and the Residents’ Panel since 2003.
I am semi-retired having worked at Cambridge University for 30+
years and currently work part-time as a University Constable.
The post is mainly ceremonial but is attached to the
Cambridgeshire Police and has powers of arrest within 5 miles of
Great St Mary’s Church!
My four children, having grown up here, are all living away from
Fulbourn these days. As far a hobbies go, Chris and I are very
heavily into amateur theatre for which I direct, stage manage
and write. We have a 1 year old black Labrador called Max who
provides us with home entertainment and long walks. I also enjoy
reading and working/messing about on my computer. |
Derek Thorn
I have lived in the village all my life and became a
tenant on the Windmill Estate in 1966. I have been a tenant
representative on the Residents Panel since 2005. I am
semi-retired, working part time as a software support analyst.
My hobbies include playing crib, which I do for the Six Bells
public house and I am also a member of the Fulbourn Bowls Club.
I am a keen fisherman and enjoy reading and taking part in
quizzes.
I am responsible for the Windmill Estate web site, having
undertaken training on this since being on the panel. |
Steve Laurie
I was born in London but brought
up in the Staffordshire Moorlands part of the Peak District. I
studied geology at university in London. I worked there
until starting a job in Cambridge in 1990, looking after the
university's collections of rocks and minerals in the Sedgwick
Museum.
My house on the estate was rather run down when I bought it in
1990, but I was won over by the amount of space inside: plenty
of room for books and bicycles. I'm very physically active and
enjoy all sorts of cycling for over 40 years, on and off the
road, as well as rock climbing. This is not the best sport to
follow in Cambridgeshire but it has taken me to many of the
lumpier parts of the mainland, most often to Spain. More
recently I inherited a yacht and I've been learning to sail. On a
quiet evening at home I enjoy reading or listening to music. My
garden is also an inspiration to me especially in the spring
when life surges up out of the ground.
I joined the panel two years ago as one of the spin offs from doing
a course with Landmark Education. I want the estate to be as
eco-friendly as it can be. The new houses will be fairly high
standard but there's not much we can do to improve them because
the quality is largely fixed by the money available. It is
important though that we look at the energy efficiency of the
estate as a whole. Energy prices are going to go on rising and
gas central heating, for instance, will not be a good choice any
longer. We need to be more creative and look at new ways of
doing just about everything. |

I am Fulbourn
born and bred, with many relatives living in the village. I have
lived on the estate for 16 years moving twice within the estate
as my family grew and I now live there with my husband and three
children.
I have represented residents on the estate since the
very beginning in 2001 and am also a parish councillor. |
Rosalie Powell
I moved to Fulbourn
from Cherryhinton with husband Mick and sons, Ian and Matthew,
in 1977. We lived in School Lane for 7 years and then
moved to Cambridge Road where we have lived for 24 years.
I work for the NHS as a therapy assistant in the community,
covering south and Cambridge city. I help physiotherapists
with exercises for patients with various mobility problems and
hip and knee replacements, and occupational therapists with
assessing needs for equipment, such as walking frames, and
installation of over bath showers and the like. I really
enjoy my job. |
Allan Lanfear
I
was born in Somerset and joined the RAF at 16, after training I
was stationed at Bassingbourn, and met my wife in 1956, we were
married in 1962 and moved to Fulbourn.
I have lived on the estate since May 1966. Before retiring I
worked in the Health Service for 33 years at both Fulbourn
Hospital and Addenbrooks.
I have one daughter who lives in Histon, my interests are
playing cribbage for the Six Bells, and my cat
